Growing Herbs in Tins

Use old tin cans to grow delicious herbs for your meals and salads

Decorated tin cans are great to use for growing your favourite herbs and are fun to create - an excellent indoor activity for your kiddies to do when it's raining outside. 

Decorated tin cans for plants

MATERIALS:

  • Empty tin cans (get an adult to put holes in the bottom for drainage and check there are no sharp edges)
  • Paint
  • Brushes
  • Potting mix
  • Herbs


INSTRUCTIONS:

Paint the tins with your favourite design.  

Write the name of the herb you plan to plant in the tin

When this is dry you can plant your herbs, and watch them grow.

 

Download as a pdf for printing.

Adult supervision may be required to help with this project, depending on the child's age.
